Pininfarina PF0 electric HYPERCAR first look
The newly-launched Automobili Pininfarina delivers more information on their targets for their electric hypercar, including the first design sketch.
Just a few days ago we reported that Pininfarina, now owned by India’s Mahindra, has launched Automobili Pininfarina to go in to the business of producing high-end luxury SUVs and an electric Hypercar too. Now, Pininfarina has given up a bit more information on their Hypercar, including an early design sketch (above) and the targets they’re expecting to deliver when the car arrives in 2020.
Dubbed the Pininfarina PF0 (so plenty of room to head on with PF1, PF2, PF3… in the future), the one thing we can be certain of is that this electric supercar will be stunning to look at; after all, Pininfarina has created some of the world’s most beautiful cars, not just for Ferrari but the likes of Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati and even Jaguar too.
That new body will be designed by Luca Borgogno and made of carbon fibre, the batteries it needs will be behind the two seats and along the sides and it will have serious performance on tap.
But beyond the body it seems Pininfarina are looking to buy in the best technology the world can deliver, and it seems likely that much of what will underpin the PF0 will be based on Rimac’s stunning Concept Two electric supercar.
That would explain why the targets for the PF0 are so clear, with a 0-62mph in under 2.0 seconds, 186mph in under 12 seconds, a top speed of 250mph and a range of 300 miles or so. But not if you’re blatting to 62mph in under 2.0 seconds.
Does that make this a Rimac C_Two by Pininfarina? Who cares if it looks as we hope it will and performs in the way promised.
