Kia Ceed GT
The Kia Ceed GT arrives as the performance take on the new Kia Ceed, complete with its own styling, tweaked suspension and a 201bhp 1.6 litre petrol turbo.
This isn’t a hot hatch in the mould of the Hyundai i30 N, but it does deliver a decent 201bhp from its 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine, so it counts as a properly warm Ceed.
You also get a choice of gearbox options with the GT, with a six-speed manual gearbox coming as standard, but a seven-speed DCT ‘box just a tick box (and a few bob) away.
Kia has thrown Albert Biermann’s name in to the mix to substantiate the GT’s suspension tweaks to make it more driver focused, promising better cornering ability, better traction and improved responsiveness, with tweaks to the regular Ceed’s geometry delivering tangible driver benefits.
Visually, the Ceed GT comes in for a predictable makeover, with 18″ alloys, ‘ice-cube’ driving lights, honeycomb grille with red highlights, red brake calipers, gloss black diffuser and a roof spoiler.

The all-new Ceed GT occupies a unique position in the mid-size family car segment, and doesn’t simply chase the highest top speed or fastest straight-line acceleration. It offers greater agility and grip on winding roads, maximum confidence and comfort at a cruise, and fast-revving turbocharged power perfectly matched to European tastes.
Oddly, Kia hasn’t managed to deliver any performance figures for the Ceed GT, despite a very lengthy press release, but we’d hope it can deliver a 0-62mph sprint in the mid-7 second range.
The Kia Ceed GT will debut at the Paris Motor Show next month and be on sale in the UK in early 2019.
