Ford Focus Active Estate Revealed
The new Ford Focus Active Estate has been revealed as Ford adds to the already revealed Focus Active with a higher-riding estate version too.
When Ford revealed the new Focus earlier this year, it told us there was an Estate version and an Active Hatch version. But it didn’t join the dots and confirm a Focus Active Estate, delivering only images of the Focus Active Hatch. But now it’s confirmed; the new Focus Active Estate is definitely part of the new Focus range and will aim to split the difference for those undecided about an Estate or an SUV.
Looking just as you’d expect an Active Focus Estate to look, it rides higher than the regular estate, gets plastic cladding to look a bit more purposeful, new bumpers for added butch, skid plates, roof rails and unique alloys.
Inside is just the same as the Active Hatch with bolstered seats covered in Active Cloth, bright trim, Active scuffplates and floor mats.
The Active Estate also gets Ford’s short-long arm rear suspension with tweaks to the springs and dampers and the addition of Slippery and Trial modes designed to give you a bit more grip on slippery stuff.
Despite some off-road pretensions, the Focus Active is firmly front-wheel drive, with a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines with either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic ‘box.
The new Ford Focus Active is now on sale.
