2019 Kia Niro Hybrid Facelift

The Kia Niro hybrids – regular hybrid and plug-in – gets a mild facelift for 2019, inside and out, plus lots of new technology.

It’s already three years since the Kia Niro Crossover arrived, so Kia are rolling out a facelift for the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid with a range of cosmetic titivations and plenty of new technology.

There are new bumpers front and back – which look quite like those on the electric e-Niro – new LED running lights, ‘Ice Cube’ projection headlights, new paint and alloy options and (optional) LED headlights and Fogs.

Inside Kia say the dashboard materials are nicer to the touch, the old school handbrake has been replaced by an electronic one (no more handbrake turns), there are new colour choices, flappy paddles for the dual-clutch auto, optional 10.25″ infotainment and 7″ Supervision display and Kia’s UVO Connect telematics system.

Under the skin the Niro hybrids stay much the same, with a 1.6 litre petrol engine and electric motor, with the hybrid making do with a small 1.56kWh battery and the plug-in a more useful 8.9kWh.

The updated Kia Niro Hybrids will go on sale in the UK in the spring. No prices yet.
