New Skoda Scala UK Price and Specs announced

The new Skoda Scala – Skoda’s competition for the Ford Focus and VW Golf – will go on sale in the UK in May with prices starting from £16,595.

It’s more than three months since Skoda revealed the new Scala, and a month since it went in to production, and you still won’t be able to order one until May. But Skoda has got round to announcing prices and specs for the Scala in the UK.

As a replacement for the nondescript Rapid, the Scala looks far more promising, based on the A0 version of VW’s MQB Platform and promising an upmarket take on a family hatch from Skoda with good looks, good specs and lots of room.

The Scala gets a choice of four engines in the UK, with a pair of 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrols with 94bhp or 113bhp, a 1.5 litre petrol with 148bhp and a 114bhp 1.6 litre diesel. All come with a five or six-speed manual gearbox with a seven-speed DSG ‘box an option on all except the 94bhp 1.0 litre.

The entry-level Scala S comes with 16″ alloys, LED headlights, Air Con, DAB and 6.5″ infotainment, plus safety stuff like Front Assist, Lane Assist and Speed Assist, with the Scala SE (from £18,580) adding cruise, parking sensors, a bigger 8″ infotainment screen and seat height adjustment for the front passenger seat – and an umbrella.

Aim for the top of the Scla range with the SE L trim (from £20,380) and you gets Skoda’s Amundsen Infotainment with 9.2″ screen, digital cockpit, Climate, Keyless, 17″ alloys, LED tail lights, dynamic indicators, Privacy Glass, chrome bits on the interior and seats with silver Microsuede trims.

As we noted earlier, you can’t officially order a new Scala until May, but if you do you’ll get your new car sometime before summer is out.
