Vauxhall reveals details on the new electric Corsa-e

Vauxhall has officially revealed the new electric Corsa-e, which comes with 134bhp, 50kWh battery and an official range of 205 miles.

Yesterday we published the first photo of the new electric Vauxhall Corsa-e (the Opel Corsa-e if you want to be a pedant) after it leaked out a bit early. So it’s no surprise to find Vauxhall has decided to officially reveal the electric Corsa, ahead of the reveal of the rest of the new Corsa range.

As the first model from Vauxhall to be developed since PSA took over, the new Corsa sits on a new platform borrowed from PSA, so although there aren’t many similarities between it and the PSA range to look at, the new Corsa sits on the same platform as the new Peugeot 208.

That also means there will be big similarities between the Peugeot and the Vauxhall when it comes to powertrains, with the Corsa-e having a very similar setup to the electric 208.

That means a 50kWh battery pack powering a 134bhp electric motor with 191lb/ft of torque and an official range of 205 miles. Charging to 80 per cent will take just 30 minutes on a rapid charger.

The Corsa-e has three Drive Modes – Normal, Eco and Sport – with Normal mode delivering what you want most of the time, and the official range, Sport making things a bit more lively and knocking around 10 per cent off the range, and Eco promising to make everything mush but take you 40 per cent further.

It looks like we’ll have to wait for the rest of the new Corsa range to be revealed before we get an idea on what price Vauxhall has attached to the electric Corsa-e.
