Volvo RECHARGE is the name for Volvo’s electric cars – the first the electric XC40 Recharge

Volvo has revealed that its electrified cars – plug-in hybrid and electric – will carry the ‘Recharge’ branding as they announce plans for big CO2 reductions.

We’re only a few hours away from the reveal of the new electric Volvo XC40, ahead of which Volvo has announced ambitious new CO2 targets and told us what the electric Volvo XC40 will be called – the Volvo XC40 Recharge.

The new Recharge branding will arrive with the electric XC40, and Volvo has committed to delivering the average lifecycle CO2 emissions for it and all subsequent models too.

Volvo also plans to use the Recharge branding to push electric sales and to encourage drivers of plug-in hybrids to actually plug them in, something many drivers, especially company car drivers, just don’t do.

Having already pledged to have half its sales as EVs by 2025, Volvo is now going further with plans to reduce the lifecycle CO2 of its cars by 40 per cent too, in part with the electrification of its models but also by aiming to get its supply chain’s CO2 footprint down by 25 per cent, and using 25 per cent recycled plastics too.

But the current big news is the arrival of the Volvo XC40 Recharge later today.
