Nissan’s ELECTRIC Ice Cream Van wins a brace of PR Awards
Nissan’s electric ice cream van has scooped the award for both the both the ‘Automotive Award’ and the ‘Media Relations Award’ at the 2019 PRCA National awards.
Back in the summer, we got a look at an electric ice cream van Nissan had built from the e-NV200 electric van, and it answered problems only ice cream vendors really knew about.Apart from doing the obvious by having an EV powertrain instead of a diesel to keep kiddies safe from noxious fumes as they queue for their ’99’, the Nissan EV ice cream van went a bit further in its clean air quest.
That includes the use of second life batteries and solar power to power two Nissan ROAM packs so the chuggy diesel – which normally needs to run to power the freezers – is consigned to the bin and with it Nox and particulates. Which is good.
It seems the original story captured the attention of the press too, with extensive coverage of the ice cream EV across the press and online, so much so the campaign has won a brace of awards at the 2019 PRCA (Public Relations and Communications Association) National awards – ‘Automotive Award’ and the ‘Media Relations Award’.
David Jackson, Nissan’s UK Communications Director, said:
We are absolutely delighted that our ‘Sky to Scoop’ campaign has received these two prestigious awards. This project is a working demonstration of how Nissan’s Electric Ecosystem can remove carbon dependence at every stage of the ice cream process. The reaction to the project from both public and press has been amazing and we’re very proud to see it recognised in this way.
