Electric Nissan e-NV200 sales up 200% in 2019
Sales of the Nissan e-NV200 van have risen by 200 per cent in 2019 as businesses throughout the UK and Europe get switched on to electric transport.
There is a lot of nonsense talked about electric cars as zero emission, because the electricity they use is often far from ‘clean’ and, just like ICE cars, they have to be built. But when it comes to emissions at the point of use, especially in congested cities, electric cars, vans and lorries are a sure fire way of cutting not just Co2 in urban areas but the stuff that really matters too – like NOx and particulates.
And it seems that it’s not just car buyers who are slowly coming round to the benefits of electric vehicles as perfect transport in urban areas (charging facilities permitting), but commercial vehicle buyers are too.
The Nissan e-NV200 – Nissan’s electric van – has seen sales rise by an impressive 200 per cent so far in 2019, driven by tax breaks, running costs and increasing taxation for ICE commercials.
With running costs as low as 2p a mile for the e-NV200, and no burdensome access taxes, the e-NV200 has made sales of 10,000 since its launch last year and is now the best-selling electric van in the UK Italy, Norway and the Netherlands.
Paolo D’Ettore, Nissan’s LCV Director in Europe, said:
The success of e-NV200 truly demonstrates that we have the right product at the right time. The acceleration of fleet electrification – especially in city centres – is a challenge for our customers, so we recognise the need to work with them and provide the optimal ecosystem to support a smooth transition to electric vehicles.
Thanks to its intelligent design and zero-emissions powertrain, the Nissan e-NV200 is the perfect tool to help businesses maximise their operational success and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Nissan are keen to point out that there are no daft delays to take delivery of the e-NV200 – unlike many electric cars – and that orders can be fulfilled in around 12 weeks.
And the more electric ‘last mile’ delivery vans there are on the road, the better.
