It’s not a thought you want to have when the first leaves are only just starting to turn golden brown, and the morning air is suddenly full of moisture. But it’s inevitable – Christmas is coming. In 78 days.

But fear not; this year is going to be a doddle, particularly if you have a few petrol-heads on your Christmas present list. For Neiman Marcus – purveyor of fine goods in NYC – has added a very special car to its Christmas Book – the Jaguar XJL Supercharged Neimen Marcus Edition.

Every year Neimen Marcus (a Harrods-ish store, for those who don’t know) produces the ‘Neimen Marcus Christmas Book’ from which you can purchase gifts for the man / woman who has everything. A rather quaint idea in this age of online shopping, the Christmas book is nevertheless a big deal, and for Jaguar it’s a great way to kick off US sales of the new XJ.

This is the third time Neimen Marcus has chosen a Jaguar as their Christmas Car (E-Type in ’68 and XK8 in ’97) and, as you would expect, it’s a pretty decently Specced Car. It’s the long wheelbase Supercharged version of the new XJ, sporting the 470bhp V8 and finished in Celestial Black metallic with 20″ alloys and illuminated treadplates. The interior features custom butter-soft navy and ivory leather with Zebrano matte wood accents. And you won’t be shocked to know you get a plaque on the Intaglio that reads “Neiman Marcus 1 of 50”. Oh, you also get a matching five-piece luggage set in navy leather.
