Audi Q5 SUV hits the MILLION production milestone in Germany
The Audi Q5 SUV, Audi’s second SUV launched back in 2008, has hit the one million milestone today at Audi’s plant in Ingolstadt.
In some ways it doesn’t seem all that long ago that the Audi Q5 arrived as Audi’s downsized Q7, but that was actually back in 2008. How time flies. But in the eight years since the Q5 arrived Audi has been busy churning them out as the world continues its love affair with SUV, and are now celebrating the one millionth production model rolling off the production line in Ingolstadt.
That number is surprising enough, but Audi doesn’t just build t he Q5 in Germany, but also in China and India for local markets, and if you add that production in to the total there are now 1.6 million Audi Q5s on the road in more than 100 countries.
Albert Mayer, Plant Director at Ingolstadt, said:
The Audi Q5 is a genuine guarantee of success for us. For that reason, I am very proud that we have created a worldwide crowd puller with this SUV model from the main plant in Ingolstadt.
One million Audi Q5 cars – that is due to the outstanding performance of our production team. We achieved it with great effort and commitment.
The Audi q5 may have sold 1.7 million worldwide in the last eight years, but its sales show no sign of slowing down, with 267k sold last year. And with a new Q5 due any time soon the next million Q5s should arrive in no time.
