Bentley Bentayga SUV will hit 187mph
The Bentley Bentayga SUV is getting closer, and Bentley continue the tease with a video of the Bentayga high-speed testing and hitting 187mph.
We recently saw the Bentley Bentayga – Bentley’s SUV challenge to the mighty Range Rover – showing its off-road prowess, but now we get the Bentayga on track showing it’s going to be the world’s fastest SUV when it arrives, hitting 187mph on a banked track. That’s a chunk more than the Range Rover Sport SVR or Porsche Cayenne Turbo S can manage, although whether VW will let the Lamborghini Urus be beaten on top speed by a Bentley remains to be seen.
It’s questionable whether anyone would want to go 187mph in a high-riding SUV, but it will give the Bentayga bragging rights, if nothing else.
But is the 187mph top speed – which comes from a Bentayga with Bentley’s new W12 TSI engine – going to be the pinnacle of Bentayga performance? Probably not.
We’ve recently seen what appears to be a more powerful Bentayga pounding round the Nurburgring, featuring much bigger air intakes at the front and a fruitier exhaust, so we must assume Bentley are planning a Bentayga Speed, which could hit 200mph.
We’re expecting the Bentley Bentayga to arrive at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month when we’ll get a clear idea of exactly what’s going to be on offer, although W12, V8 and V8 Hybrid versions seem a certainty.
