The Bentley Bentayga V8 Design Series arrives to offer a more contemporary look to the Bentayga V8, including Mulliner titivations.
There was a time when expensive Bentleys were the preserve of the slightly long in tooth, although prior to Bentley’s absorption by Rolls-Royce they were very much the choice of the young rich.
Things have now moved full circle, and modern Bentleys are just as likely to be bought by successful 30-something men and woman (and younger) as they are by a board-room bully in his 50s or 60s.
That changing demographic explains the arrival of the Bentley Bentayga V8 Design Series, a cosmetic titivation of the V8 Bentayga Bentley wants you to know is a ‘Contemporary’ makeover for their SUV, clearly aimed at a younger audience.
Starting point for the V8 Design Series is the Bentayga Blackline Spec, removing most of what shines and adding a lower front bumper and black tail pipes, as well as a set of Mulliner Paragon alloys in dark grey with polished highlights.
Inside there’s a new duo-tone palette in Pillar Box Red, Orange, Mulliner White and Klein Blue to contrast with beluga leather, splashes of carbon fibre and Piano Black, Mulliner quilting, ‘Design Series’ badges and a mother of pearl-faced Breitling clock.
Under the skin it’s standard V8 Bentayga which means 542bhp and 568lb/ft of torque driving all four wheels, enough to send the heavyweight Bentley to 62mph in 4.5 seconds.
Bentley hasn’t revealed how much the Bentayga V8 Design Series costs. But rest assured it will be more than other V8 Bentaygas.
