A set of photos of the new BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe – a four door version of the 4-Series – have been leaked ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe looks like a four-door stretched version of the 6-Series, as it should, And it works; it’s a simply brilliant car.
But we always wondered how BMW were going to differentiate the 4-Series Gran Coupe from the already existing 3-Series, which is already a 4-door saloon version of the new 4-Series Coupe. And if the leaked photos of the new 4-Series Gran Coupe are anything to go by, the answer is – not by a lot.In fact, unless they’re side-by-side, we can’t see there’s enough difference between the 4-Series Gran Coupe and the new 3-Series to be able to tell which is which.
Yes, the new 4-Series Gran Coupe does have the slightly more raked profile and a more dynamic stance – and there are detail differences like the bumper – but it really doesn’t seem different enough to make a business case.
Engines are also likely to mimic that of the 4-Series and the suspension setup is likely to be the same.
Maybe, when we get the official reveal (probably very soon now), we’ll see what BMW have done to make the 4-Series Gran Coupe more appealing – and more expensive – than the 3-Series Saloon.
