BMW 8-Series TEASED
The BMW 8-Series is due to launch this year, but BMW has now released the first teaser image on Facebook, suggesting the production version of the new 8-Series Coupe may be about to be revealed.
It’s been a long time since there was a BMW 8-Series, but that all changed when BMW revealed the Concept 8 Series at 2017 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. The Concept 8 Series previewed a new range-topping Coupe from BMW, with promises it would debut in 2018, probably at the Geneva Motor Show.
But BMW has now started to tease the new 8-Series with the image above, posted on Facebook, so it seems likely the reveal is imminent, rather than in March.
Taking the place of the 6-Series, the new 8-Series Coupe gets underpinnings from the 7-Series, and looks like it will stay pretty faithful to the, very appealing, Concept 8 Series.
Those 7-Series underpinnings should see everything from an entry-level 830d with 3.0 litre six-cylinder diesel, a plug-in hybrid variant, an 850i with 4.4 litre V8 and, probably, a range-topping 860i V12.
But what we also know is that the new 8 Series will have a real performance version too, with an M8 expected to get the 592 bhp V8 from the M5 and four-wheel drive M xDrive.
Aimed at cars like the Mercedes S Class Coupe and Bentley Continental GT – certainly in its higher spec versions, the new BMW 8 Series is expected to go on sale in Q3 2018.
