BMW i Vision Dynamics (i5) will become the ELECTRIC BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe
The BMW i Vision Dynamics, revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, will morph in to the electric BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe by 2020.
Just last week we revealed BMW’s big electric plans, with 25 new electrified BMWs by 2025, CLAR and FAAR platforms underpinning the new EVs and an electric X3 and iNext on the way.We also learnt that BMW has hit its 100,000 electrified cars target for 2017, and that they’ve partnered up with Solid Power in the US to commercialise Solid State batteries too.
Now, BMW Blog has managed to put a bit more flesh on BMW’s EV plans with a report that the BMW i Vision Dynamics we saw at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the autumn could actually arrive as the electric BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe in 2020, potentially before the X3 EV and iNext arrive.
The next generation 4 Series Gran Coupe will take much of the design of the i Vision to create a more fluid looking Gran Coupe, and will be offered with the usual range of BMW petrol and diesel engines.
But it will also be offered as a regular EV, complete with a range of over 400 miles and 0-62mph in just 4.0 seconds.
Price point for the 4 Series EV will be interesting, because if BMW can bring it in at a sensible point then the Tesla Model 3 will really be up against it.

Would be stunned if this 4 series Gran Coupe’ could be brought in at model 3 pricing at 50K loaded when that is the price of the current existing petrol model. IMO, it will likely have to be more competitive to Model S at 80 -ish (or more) with full electric. price of batteries alone with a distance of (at least) 220 miles would dictate that.

You’re probably right on that!
