BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept
The BMW M8 Gran Coupe has been revealed as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show, previewing a production M8 Gran Coupe to rival cars like the Porsche Panamera and four-door AMG GT.
We had a tease from BMW a few days ago of what we reckoned would be the M8 Gran Coupe, and that’s exactly what BMW has delivered today in Geneva.BMW are making it clear that the new 8 Series will be the pinnacle of the BMW range, and the M8 versions – including this Gran Coupe – are designed to stir things up and polarize opinion of what a luxury performance saloon can be.
BMW has much to say about expressive surfacing, muscular contours and precise character lines, and they’re all clearly evident in a car which looks both dynamic and aggressive.
The Kidney grille gets reshaped with an unbroken gold surround, the headlights are higher than the grille and there are big CFRP air intakes.
All the cues you’d expect are there, including a long bonnet and stubby tail, with a roof which flows in to the rear at the flared wheel arches and makes the M8 look wide and planted.
BMW aren’t saying what powers the M8 Gran Coupe, but it’s not a stretch to expect it to be the same, or very similar, underpinnings to the new M5, which will mean around 600bhp and four-wheel drive.
Expect the M8 Gran Coupe to arrive in UK dealers sometime in 2019.
