BMW X2 ‘Lifestyle’ SUV revealed in first OFFICIAL photos
The first official photos of the new BMW X2 – BMW’s baby lifestyle SUV – have been revealed ahead of its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
As BMW continues to milk every possible SUV niche available, we saw the arrival of the BMW X2 in Concept guise at the Paris Motor Show last year. What the X2 Concept showed was that not all even-numbered BMW X models have to be on the fugly side, because the X2 concept actually looked rather good.
Looking more crossover than real SUV, the X2 looked properly appealing as a Premium urban warrior, and it looks like BMW hasn’t strayed to far from the concept X2 as the first photos of the production X2 arrive.
Published on lifestyle blog Highsnobiety – and trumpeted as an exclusive – we must assume it was BMW’s choice to deliver the first, albeit camouflaged, look at the new X2 on a site which is distinctly lifestyle focused.
That alone tells you all you need to know about the X2’s target demographic, but despite that there should be something in it for car lovers too.
Under the skin is the same UKL1 platform underpinning the X1 and MINI Countryman, with a range of engines offering from around 115bhp to 230bhp plus, it’s expected, a range-topping X2 M35i with up to 300bhp and 4WD.
Which all sounds quite promising.
