Citroen C4 Picasso now OFFICIALLY the C4 SpaceTourer
The Citroen C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer are now officially the new names for the C4 Picasso and Grand Picasso, and a new gearbox option arrives too.
People Carriers and MPVs may not be flavour of the month – and many car makers, like Peugeot, have turned their MPVs in to SUVs – but Citroen is keeping faith with their MPVs.That said, they’re now being grouped together with the People Carrier / MiniBus you haven’t actually heard of – the nine-seat Citroen SpaceTourer – with the C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso monikers dropped in favour of new ‘SpaceTourer’ badging.
That means the C4 Picasso is now the C4 SpaceTourer and the Grand C4 Picasso is the Grand C4 SpaceTourer, and that’s official from today. So if you thought you wanted a C4 Picasso you now have to remember what you really want is a C4 SpaceTourer.
To all intents and purposes the new SpaceTourer models are exactly the same as the outgoing Picasso models, although there is a new Safety Pack on the range-topping Flair models which includes Driver Attention Alert, Speed Sign Recognition and Active Safety Brake.
Also added, although not available until June, is a new BlueHDi 160 S&S Diesel engine with Citroen’s EAT8 automatic gearbox which, say Citroen, returns a 7 per cent improvement in economy compared to the EAT6. The EAT8 will also be available on other engines in the SpaceTourer range later in the year.
The newly named C4 SpaceTourer starts at £21,125 and the Grand C4 SpaceTourer at £23,425. Both are now on sale at Citroen’s UK dealers.
