ELECTRIC Lexus Concept teased – looks like a compact City EV?

Lexus has started a tease for an electric concept heading for the Tokyo Motor Show, which could be a compact Lexus City Car.

Lexus may have a range of hybrid cars on offer, one of its main USPs in the Premium sector, but it doesn’t have a plug-in hybrid or a BEV. But that looks set to change.

But don’t expect Lexus to start rolling out plug-in hybrids, as they seem set to go from ‘Self Charging’ hybrids to BEVs in one bound. And this tease for an electric Lexus Concept heading for the Tokyo Motor Show could point clearly to that future.

Lexus aren’t being exactly forthcoming at the moment, but they do say their EV concept has “applied continued advances in technologies such as electrification and autonomous driving” and will cater for Lexus buyers looking for fun and luxury.

That’s all a bit ambiguous, but we do wonder if Lexus are going down the Honda E route with an electric city car, sitting below the UX in size and catering for an urban premium EV market which looks set to grow substantially?

If so, could this new Lexus EV Concept be an update of the  LF-SA Concept we saw a few years ago, a very funky compact city car we thought was heading for production as soon as Lexus could make it viable?
