The ‘Most Extreme Bentley Ever’ is teased by Bentley ahead of a debut on Friday (6 January 2017). Is this a new 700bhp Continental GT Supersports?
We’re expecting a new Bentley Continental GT to appear later in 2017 – the third generation of the ‘VW’ Bentley – and it looks like it’s going to go out with a bit of a bang if Bentley’s ‘Most Extreme’ car ever is indeed the ultimate performance GT.
Teased on video ahead of a reveal at on Friday (6 January 2017), it looks to have all the ingredients you’d expect from an extreme Bentley.
There appears to be a carbon fibre fixed wing at the back of the Bentley together with statement red brake calipers, a bit of a carbon fibre body kit going on and bonnet louvres, also in carbon fibre.
What we don’t know is what’s under the bonnet, although we can assume it will be helped with reduced weight thanks to liberal doses of carbon fibre.
It’s going to need to be more extreme than the V8 powered Continental GT3-R we saw in 2014, which had 572bhp and could get to 62mph in a scant 3.6 seconds, and more extreme than the GT Supersports which hit 62mph in 3.7 seconds from its 6211bhp W12.
Our money is on a new GT Supersports, based on the new Continental GT Speed with its 633bhp, but with up to 700bhp from its W12, hitting 62mpg in the low 3 seconds.
Or, then again, it could be something else completely.
