The new Ford Ka+ Active Crossover (pictured) joins Ford’s titivated 2018 Ka+ range
The Ford Ka+ Active Crossover arrives as a butch take on the Ka+ as Ford update their budget offering for 2018 with cosmetic tweaks, new engines and more technology.
It’s a couple of years since the Ford Ka+ arrived to sit below the new Ford Fiesta and deliver a ‘budget’ offering in Ford’s range offering fairly basic transport at a more affordable price. Now, Ford has decided to add a bit more appeal to the Ka+, so titivations are the order of the day for 2018, as well as delivering a ‘Crossover’ version – the Ford Ka+ Active – to tempt those looking for something a bit more in the little urban warrior mode.
Updates for 2018 include stuff like auto lights and wipers, Ford’s SYNC 3 Infotainment, heated windscreen, new grille, fogs and running lights and new bumpers.
Engine choices now include a new three-cylinder 1.2 litre Ti-VCT petrol with 70 PS or 85 PS as well as a 1.5 litre TDCi diesel with 95 PS.
The new Active version of the Ka+ comes with exactly what you’d expect, including a raised ride height and a bit of butch exterior titivation including new grille, roof rails and black plastic cladding, with the interior getting kick plates and unique upholstery.
Under the skin there are a few more changes in addition to the 23mm increase in ride height including a wider track, new front anti-roll bars, tweaked steering and dampers and 15″ alloys.
The new Ford Ka+ and Ka+ Active will go on sale in the UK later in the year, with prices starting at £10,795.
