Richard Hammond takes off in the Rimac Electric Supercar ahead of his massive crash
The second series of The Grand Tour – the Amazon vehicle for ex-Top Gear hosts Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson – is teased on video.
Amazon Prime paid a rather large sum of money to secure the services of Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, and the result was The Grand Tour.Even those who haven’t paid Amazon’s ransom to access the new programme on Amazon Prime have probably seen much of what was on offer in Series 1, and know it was great in parts and feeble in others. A bit like old Top Gear.
Now it’s time for the tricky second album as Clarkson, Hammond and May work to iron out the bad bits (please take the ‘American’ away and stop ‘killing’ star guests), and we get our first tease of the Grand Tour’s second series on video ahead of its debut (expected in October).
The brief tease video reveals much of what you’d expect, with Clarkson in a Bugatti Chiron, military SUVs in the desert, more supercars, an old XJ, battered aeroplanes and much japery.
But perhaps the most headline-grabbing bit is Richard Hammond about to take off in the Rimac Electric Supercar, saying “Watch this” as he prepared to floor the throttle and take on the hillclimb.
As we know, Hammond crashed the Rimac, which ended up upside down at the bottom of a hill and burst in to flames. Thankfully, Hammond escaped with nothing more than a knackered knee.
The second series of The Grand Tour is expected to air in October.
