Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype
The Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype is teased ahead of a reveal at the Geneva Motor Show, previewing the 2017 Honda Civic for the UK and Europe.
There’s already a new Honda Civic revealed for the US, and now Honda are gearing up to preview the next Civic for the UK and Europe – due in 2017 – with this, the Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype which is heading for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The single teaser image of the Civic Honda has released doesn’t tell us much, but we can see boomerang tail lights, central twin exhausts, spoiler, a beefy bumper and a style that looks to echo much of the US Civic saloon.
Under the bonnet, the next Civic will get the 1.5 litre petrol turbo available in the States – with at least a couple of power outputs – as well as Honda’s new 1.0 litre three-cylinder turbo petrol with 127bhp and sub-100g/km emissions.
The 2017 Civic is an important car for the UK, as all the next Civic hatches will be built in Swindon and exported around the world, with Honda no doubt hoping they can manage to flog enough to get Swindon running at capacity – something it’s a long way from doing at the moment.
What we don’t know is what will happen to the Civic Type R, which has only been around for a year or so.
Will Honda continue to sell it alongside the new Civic, end its life prematurely or build a new Type R based on the new car?
