Honda Urban EV voted BEST Concept Car
The Honda Urban EV Concept has been voted the Best Concept Car in the 2018 Car Design Awards at the Turin Motor Show. Goes on sale in early 2019.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, we got our first look at the Honda Urban EV Concept, and it ticked so many boxes we couldn’t see it staying a concept for long.Looking rather like a modern take on an original VW Golf, the Urban EV Concept looked to be the perfect urban runaround and, by keeping everything simple, ticked every box you could want for blatting round town.
Honda said the Urban EV wasn’t just a concept flight of fancy, but previewed real production intent, and earlier this year Honda confirmed the Urban EV was going in to production.
We still don’t know what will be powering the Urban EV – beyond it being an electric city car – but we’re assuming it will get a lively electric motor and enough battery to deliver a 150 mile range. If the price is right, the Urban EV could be a real success for Honda.
Now, six months ahead of the Urban EV going on sale in Europe, that Urban EV Concept has been voted the Best Concept Car in the 2018 Car Design Awards, judged by a panel of 12 journalists, at the Turin Motor Show.
It’s a good promo for the Urban EV ahead of the production car, and we’re expecting it to remain faithful to the concept in design, even if some of the concept fripperies, like the suicide doors and LED message board, are lost in translation.
