Hyundai i30 N Line 1.0-litre T-GDi
The Hyundai i30 N Line – Hyundai’s i30 ‘N’ Performance lookalike – can now be ordered with Hyundai’s 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol engine. Costs from £19,995.
With the Hyundai i30 N mopping up praise and plaudits from reviewers and buyers alike, it was no surprise Hyundai decided to cash-in on its halo performance model with a lookalike range with, comparatively, distinctly pedestrian performance. That saw the arrival of the Hyundai i30 N Line last year, which went on sale in the UK last August, sporting a look not far removed from the i30 N but with a single 1.4 litre T-GDI petrol engine option. But now you have another option.
Hyundai has decided it’s time to offer the i30 N Line with its most popular engine – the 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol – which accounts for some 65 per cent of UK sales. The surprise is it wasn’t available from the start.
The spec of the 1.0 litre N Line differs a bit from the 1.4 litre, but you get 17″ alloys, N Line front and back bumpers, twin tail pipes, gloss black door mirrors, body coloured door handles, a smattering of N Line badges, N Line cloth sports seats and N Branded steering wheel and gear lever.
There’s also a decent standard spec of stuff like 8″ Touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Cruise and rear-view camera, as well as safety stuff like Lane Departure, Lane Keep, Hill Start and AEB.
At £19,995, the 1.0 i30 N Line is a good shout, and although its performance will be a bit down on the 1.4 litre, Hyundai’s 120PS 1.0 T-GDi is a great little engine and will make the i30 N Line feel properly fun.
