Kia ‘Shooting Brake’ Concept -a preview of the next Cee’d – REVEALED
The Kia Concept for Frankfurt – a ‘Shooting Brake’ design – is revealed ahead of a debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show and previews the next Kia Cee’d.
A week ago, Kia teased a new ‘Shooting Brake’ Concept they are taking to the Frankfurt Motor Show – although they insisted on attaching the clumsy ‘Extended Hatchback’ moniker to it – and now it’s been revealed.Kia are clear the Concept ‘hints’ at the design of the next generation Cee’d – due in 2018 – but it seems unlikely it bears too much resemblance to the run of the mill Cee’d.
Instead, it seems likely the next Cee’d will be all five door, and this Concept previews a replacement for the Pro Cee’d. Which sounds like good news.
Kia say the Concept, a new body style for Kia, is an ‘extended hatch’ with a rakish roofline, real versatility, a dynamic window frame, ‘Sharkblade’ in the bodywork, slim waistline, no B-pillars and a slim waistline. It does look good.
The Concept gets big alloys and even an illuminated glasshouse surround to greet drivers, and comes with the familiar Kia ‘Tiger Nose’ and a sculpted bonnet echoing the Kia Stinger’s.
No mention is made by Kia of what powers the Shooting Brake, but it’s reasonable to assume it will come with an updated range of the current Cee’d’s engines. Although we would do hope there’ll be a proper performance version in the mould of Hyundai’s new N cars.
Although this Kia Shooting Brake is debuting at Frankfurt, we wouldn’t expect it – or anything resembling it – to arrive until after the new Cee’d is revealed next year.
