New Kia Cee’d previewed in Kia’s SHOOTING BRAKE Concept
Kia has revealed a concept heading for the Frankfurt Motor Show next month which turns the Cee’d in to a stylish and upmarket Shooting Brake.
When is a Shooting Brake not a Shooting Brake? When it’s an ‘Extended Hatch’, according to Kia.That catchy little moniker is what Kia has attached to this concept – which previews the look of the next Kia Cee’d – and is heading for a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. And it looks very good.
With the current Cee’d now five years old, we’re likely to see a new Cee’d from Kia in the next year, so this Concept is probably a bit more than just a wild fantasy, although it’s unlikely to be particularly indicative of the mainstream Cee’d.
Instead, this is probably a look at what the new Pro Cee’d will look like when it arrives, with dramatic Shooting Brake looks, deeply contoured flanks, a dramatic roofline and statement wheelarches.
At this point, all Kia are saying is that this Concept “indicates what the next-generation cee’d could look like”, but it’s clearly a route Kia are heading.
What will power the Kia Cee’d Shooting Brake is anyone’s guess, although it would undoubtedly get Kia’s 1.0 litre turbo petrol as well as revised versions of the 1.6 diesel and petrol engines currently on offer. A performance version in the mould of Hyundai’s N cars? That’s an interesting thought.
All will be revealed when the new Kia Shooting Brake Concept debuts in Frankfurt on 12 September.

Nice looking car. Odd how the term ‘shooting brake’ is being used by manufacturers these days to denote a sportier estate car when the originator of the name was simply a big van-like vehicle with bench seats to carry the members of a shooting party. But then, estate car also suggests a vehicle to cart people or equipment about one’s country estate donchaknow what what.
