The Lamborghini SUV has been confirmed by an Audi manager
Rumours of a Lamborghini SUV Concept at the Beijing Motor Show have been confirmed by a senior Audi Manager.
We reported a few days ago that Quattroruote, an Italian car magazine, were claiming that the much rumoured Lamborghini SUV Concept would debut at the Beijing Motor Show in April. We did comment that the report seemed like the rumour mill gone mad, but the fact that Lamborghini were calling the report ‘Speculation’ lead us to conclude the story was probably true. And now we hear that a senior Audi manager has confirmed the news.
Speaking to Automotive News (Europe) the unnamed Audi manager said that “…I can’t comment in detail but the speculation in the press is largely correct”. So there you have it; despite saying they’d never build a successor to the LM002, it now looks certain that’s exactly what Lamborghini are planning.
It seems likely the new Lamborghini SUV will be built on the same platform as the 2013 Audi A7 and the planned Bentley SUV we expect by 2015. Although there is still no confirmation of what will power the Lambo SUV, it seems likely it will be the Gallardo V10, with a possible hybrid option on offer too.
