Land Rover Discovery Anniversary Edition
Land Rover is marking the 30th anniversary of the launch of the original Discovery with an Anniversary Model for the UK. Just 400 available.
It’s 30 years since Land Rover revealed the very first Discovery as an attempt to deliver a cheaper Range Rover with ‘Lifestyle’ chops, complete with a slightly odd interior designed by Jasper Conran, to fill the yawning gap between the Defender and Range Rover.
Since 1989 we’ve gone through five generations of Discovery and 1.7 million sales (if you include the Discovery Sport), and although Discovery sales have fallen out of bed in the last few months it’s been a big success for Land Rover.
That’s enough reason to celebrate with a limited edition model, so the UK is getting the Land Rover Discovery Anniversary Edition, a run of just 400 Discoverys with extra goodies.
Based on the Discovery Sd6 SE, the Anniversary Edition gets 22″ alloys, a Panoramic glass roof, Privacy Glass, a Meridian Sound System with 380W and a choice of Santorini Black, Corris Grey Loire Blue or Indus Silver paint jobs.
Rawdon Glover, JLR UK MD, said:
Discovery has evolved in its 30-year history to consistently bring technology, capability and relevance to the ever-changing motoring community.
We have added extra value for our customers with the 30th Anniversary Edition, making what is regarded as the ‘Best Large SUV’ on sale today, even better.
At £59,995 the Anniversary Edition Discovery is about £3k more expensive than the Sd6 SE on which it’s based, but Land Rover say the options fitted add up to £6,820. So if they’re options you want, you’re on to a winner.
