Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque (pictured) get new Ingenium petrol and diesel engines
Land Rover continue to roll out their UK-built range of Ingenium engines, with the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque getting new petrol and diesel engines.
Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium engine plant now seems to be in full flow, and the new range of engines is slowly finding its way in to the JLR range as older engines are retired.
The latest recipients of the new Ingenium engines are the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque, with new petrol and diesel options which are more efficient and more powerful.
Two petrol engines will be on offer in the Discovery Sport and Evoque, with the lower -powered Si4 240 delivering 237bhp, and both get an Si4 290 version of the same 2.0 litre petrol Ingenium which delivers 286bhp and, in the Evoque, means a 0-62mph of a decent 6.0 seconds.
Both these new arrivals are a sign that petrol engines are, once more, becoming more important to buyers – even buyers of SUV, which have become almost exclusively diesel-powered in recent years – although Land Rover is also delivering a new diesel engine too: both the Evoque and Discovery Sport get the Discovery’s 237bhp twin-turbo SD4.
Other changes wrought to the Evoque and Discovery ranges include a new entry-level SE Dynamic trim for the Evoque Cabriolet, new optional sports seats and a new range of colour choices
