Lynk & Co 02 TEASED
The Lynk & Co 02 is teased ahead of a reveal on 26 March, looking very similar to the Volvo XC40-based Lynk & Co o1 already revealed. It should reach the UK by 2020.
Lynk & Co is another part of Geely’s Volvo stable, essentially delivering China-focussed cars with Volvo underpinnings which aren’t quite as stylish or desirable, but are cheaper to buy. Although Lynk & Co are focussed on a subscription mobility model rather than outright sales. We’ve already had the Lynk & Co 01 revealed as Lynk & Co’s take on the Volvo XC40, and now we get a tease for the Lynk & Co 02 which is, slightly oddly, another take on the XC40.
Due to be revealed on 26 March, the 02 will be followed by the o3, essentially a Lynk & Co take on the likely Volvo S40, but this 02 is a bit of an oddity.
We’re struggling to pigeon-hole it in comparison to Volvo’s range, but as a car which looks like a slightly smaller, slightly wider, slightly lower o1, we guess the best comparison might be as a Lynk & Co take on the expected new Volvo V40 Cross Country. Assuming there is any direct correlation between the o2 and Volvo’s new 40 Series range, beyond the underpinnings.
Power, at least for its China launch, is expected to come from a choice of 1.5 litre three-pot with 177bhp or Volvo’s 2.0 litre with 190bhp, although what the UK and Europe can expect when the o2 arrives here in late 2019 is anyone’s guess beyond Volvo’s 1.5 and 2.0 litre engines. Plug-in Hybrid? Certainly. Battery Electric o2? It seems likely.
No doubt we’ll learn more when the Lynk and Co 02 is revealed on Monday.
