Lynk & Co 03 – first look at Lynk & Co’s take on the upcoming new Volvo S40
We get the first photos of the Lynk & Co 03, a new compact saloon from Geely’s Lynk & Co based on the next Volvo S40, ahead of its Shanghai Motor Show debut.
Last October we got to see the first car from Lynk & Co – Volvo owner Geely’s Chinese take on the new Volvo 40 Series cars – with the reveal of the Lynk & Co 01, a compact SUV based on the new Volvo XC40 complete with a new ‘Sharing’ sales model. Now, ahead of a debut at the Shanghai Motor Show on Wednesday (19 April 2017), we get the first look at the Lynk & Co 03 (we assume the ’02’ will appear at some point), and it looks to be the Lynk & Co take on the yet to arrive 2018 Volvo S40 saloon.
Looking a lot like the ’01’ SUV, the ’03’ was debuted in China in front of a crowd of 800 linked in by the Sharing App Geely are planning to use to roll out a sharing culture for the ’03’.
Lynk & Co revealed no details of the engines the 03 will offer, but it’s certain it will be a range of 1.5 three-cylinder and 2.0 litre four-cylinder engines, a hybrid with an electric motor linked to the 1.5 3-pot and even a pure BEV. Which is much the same as we expect from the new Volvo 40 Series cars.
Alain Visser, Lynk & Co VP, said:
We believe LYNK & CO will offer the most connected cars in the world, with the world’s first in-car digital share function. We also offer a completely new business model, with a simplified product offer, transparent fixed pricing and an attractive purchase and ownership experience starting here in China this year.
We will bring a unique offer of connected mobility, with the option to share your car, where everything is included. The key to everything we do is simplicity.
The new Lynk & Co 03 Concept will debut on Wednesday at the Shanghai Motor Show alongside the production version of the 01 SUV.
