A new video from the Nurburgring of the McLaren P1 on track claims the P1 set a new lap record of 6:47s yesterday.

Has the McLaren P1 lapped the Nurburgring in a record 6 minutes 47 seconds?
We knew McLaren were back at the Nurburgring with the P1 in an attempt to make good on Ron Dennis’s promise that the P1 would lap the ‘Ring in under 7 minutes.
Now it seems that may be exactly what McLaren has achieved, with a You Tube video posted this morning of the P1 at the Nurburgring – filmed yesterday (21st October 2014) – and the claim that the P1 managed to get round in 6 minutes 47 seconds.
If that figure is right then the McLaren P1 will be the fastest road car ever round the Nurburgring, easily beating the Porsche 918 Spyder’s time – by a full 10 seconds – and better even than the Radicals managed.
If true, we should be hearing from McLaren very soon as they make the most of a new Nurburgring lap record.
