Mercedes C63 AMG Performance Package Plus

Mercedes has announced a Performance Package Plus for the C63 AMG, with 30bhp extra and cosmetic tweaks.

When you think of Mercedes AMG models your first thought isn’t usually ‘Nice car – needs more power’. Just about every AMG model Mercedes produces has ample reserves of power (although I will admit I’d like to see a blown SLK or an SLK63. And a G63. Have I just contradicted myself?). But there’s always room for more, so if you’re about to stump up for a C63 you might be interested to know you can no give it a few extra Mercedes horses as an option.

Mercedes has revealed the ‘Performance Package Plus’ for the C63. The stock 6.2 litre V8 has had a bit of SLS magic sprinkled on it and gets forged pistons, a lightweight crankshaft and new connecting rods. The ECU also gets a tweak or three. The result of these changes is an extra 30bhp (up from 457bhp to 487nhp), a drop in the 0-60 dash to 4.2 seconds and torque of 443lbs/ft.

Beyond the oily bits Mercedes has thrown in a carbon fibre spoiler at the back, a nice new steering wheel and a beefed-up set of brakes. You can also opt (for an extra £2.5k) for Black Designo leather which covers the dash and doors in the soft leather.

Price for the Performance Plus Package is £6k for the saloon and £5.5k on the estate.
