MINI in the US has been running a competition to promote the MINI Coupe, asking entrants to describe the best test drive ever. Which you would think would revolve around things like open roads, great handling, beautiful passenger, glorious weather and any number of items from a wish list. But no, not quite.
The winner of this slightly odd competition managed to sum up his perfect test drive in six words thus: stewardess, salt flats, paratroopers, sushi and Falconer. What that says about the winner – Matthew Foster from Portland, Oregon – we hesitate to guess. Perhaps he’s a closet Mormon with a fetish for Japanese women in uniform?
We really can’t be sure, but MINI flew Matthew to Los Angeles to star in his very own version of the ‘best test drive ever’ commercial, complete with all his ‘must have’ ingredients.
The resulting video is the one you see below, complete with a MINI Air Stewardess in the passenger seat (that ticks one of our boxes), some great driving territory (bridge jumps and deserts), a whole heap of paratroopers falling from a plane (and making a living chicane), slightly disturbing mannequins dressed in Japanese garb, sushi fed to him by his beautiful stewardess, and Falconer playing out at the end.
MINI certainly did Matthews dream justice, but what would you choose?

Stupid…private video.
Cars UK says
MINI has obviously changed it since this went up in December 2011 – sorry, there’s nothing we can do about that.
