MINI has produced a video of Rauno Altonen and Paddy Hopkirk driving a MINI John Cooper Works Cabriolet round the Monte Carlo Rally stage.
The Mini has a wonderful rallying history. None greater than when those in charge of moving the Mini around were Rauno Altonen and Paddy Hopkirk. Both won the Monte Carlo rally piloting the original classic Mini in the ’60s.
So MINI thought it would be a great idea to get these two Rally greats together and take them back to the scene of their former triumphs. Only this time they sent them to Monte Carlo in a brand new MINI John Cooper Works Cabriolet to drive round part of the Rally stage.
This is properly good video from MINI, with some great cutting between the classic Mini in action and the legendary pair driving and reminiscing. And it redeems MINI’s video offerings after the recent barking mad ‘Twins’ videos used to tease the reveal of the MINI Roadster and MINI Coupe.
Even if you don’t remember the Mini’s rallying exploits of the ’60s you’ll still get a kick out of this footage.
