MINI launches the MINI Yours customisation programme with a new Prêt-à-Porter custom MINI – the MINI Avenue.

We already know that MINI seems to launch more limited editions every year than the whole of the rest of the car industry. But now they’re going a step further with a customisation programme called ‘MINI Yours’, and an off-the-peg version called the MINI Avenue.

MINI Yours is all about offering the sort of customisation offered for the original Mini in the 1960s by companies like Radford – and about making good margins on the add-ons – with a huge range of customisation stuff above and beyond what appears in the MINI Limited Editions.

That means you’ll be able to option stuff like designer paint jobs, ‘tattoes’ (which we take to mean graphics), interior trim and upholstery. In short, you can make your new MINI completely unsaleable if you get too carried away.

To kick things off, MINI has optioned up a car with a selection of the new MINI Yours options and called it the MINI Avenue. Which is a bit of a Prêt-à-Porter move, but it at least gives buyers an idea of what they can now do to their MINI with the MINI Yours options.

The MINI Avenue comes with Highclass Grey or Laguna Green metallic paint job and ‘Soda’ design interior. Spec includes leather, black mats, two colour leather steering wheel, white bonnet stripes and 17″ twin-blade alloys.

The cost of adding the ‘Avenue’ package to any car in the MINI range (well, MINI One or One D, Hatch, Convertible or Clubman – for now) is £4,880. Which means a nice big extra profit for MINI and a pretty individual MINI for you.

And you can bet your boots that if the MINI Yours programme strikes a chord with buyers – which it probably will – this will be just the start of the MINI Yours customisation options.
