The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross – a new Mitsubishi SUV sitting between the ASX and Outlander – will cost from £21,275 when it lands in the UK in January 2018.
Mitsubishi revealed their latest SUV back in June, when the eclipse Cross was revealed to slot in between the ASX and Outlander in Mitsubishi’s SUV range. Now, ahead of the order book for the Eclipse Cross opening in January 2018, Mitsubishi has revealed prices and specs for their new baby.
The Eclipse Cross seems to be aimed right at the Nissan Qashqai, which considering Mitsubishi are now part of the Nissan/Renault alliance it makes for an interesting marketing challenge.
At a starting price of £21,275 the Eclipse Cross is more expensive than the entry-level Qashqai, but it does come with a different spec and focus.
Three trim grades are available – the imaginatively named Eclipse Cross 2, Eclipse Cross 3 and Eclipse Cross 4 – all powered by a new 1.5 litre petrol turbo with six-speed manual or new auto ‘box with Sport Mode.
The Eclipse Cross will also be available with either FWD or 4WD, with 4WD versions getting the latest version of Mitsubishi’s Super All-wheel Control (S-AWC) system.
The Eclipse Cross 2 (costs from £21,275) comes with touchpad controller, Smartphone Display Audio which works with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear-view camera, DAB, Cruise, Climate, LED running lights, Bluetooth, 16″ alloys, privacy and heated door mirrors.
On the safety front, it also comes with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Mitigation, ASC and Brake Assist as well as auto lights and wipers.
The Eclipse Cross 3 (prices from £22,575 for the FWD manual) adds in 18″ alloys, heads-up, heated front seats, parking sensors, climate, keyless, electric folding mirrors, silver side sills and an electronic handbrake (if you opt for the auto ‘box).
The top of the range Eclipse Cross 4 (prices from £24,975 for the FWD manual) adds electric panoramic roof, Rockford Fosgate Sound, LED headlights, 360?parking camera, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic, Lane Change and Adaptive Cruise.
For now, you can also buy a ‘First Edition’ which is based on the Eclipse Cross 4 but throws everything in to the mix with premium paint, carbon-finish bumper and side extension kit with red inserts and additional titivations. The First Edition costs from £26,825.
Officially, the order book for the new Eclipse Cross opens in October (with cars arriving early in 2018), but if you talk to your Mitsubishi dealer now they’ll be happy to ‘register your interest’.
