New Alpine A110 revealed ahead of a debut in Geneva
The new Alpine A110 (not the A120) has finally been revealed in production guise ahead of its debut next week at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
The revival of the Alpine Sports Car brand by Renault has been arriving for quite some time, but it’s finally going to be uncovered in public at the Geneva Motor Show next week.Carrying the Alpine A110 badge – and not, as most expected, a logical A120 as a follow-on from the original A110 – the new A110 looks much like the concept, complete with its numerous nods to the original.
Of course, we’ve had a pretty good idea how the A110 will look for some time, not just from the concept but also from the camouflaged cars we saw when Alpine put the new A110 on sale as a Premier Edition last year.
Despite revealing the first photo of the new A110, we have little in the way of detail confirmation of what it will offer.
But we’re as sure as we can be that it will get a 1.8 litre petrol turbo developed from the 1.6 litre in the Clio RS and weigh in at as little as 1,000kg.
That makes it a rival for the Alfa 4C more than the oft quoted ‘Alpine take on the Porsche Cayman’, and with prices starting around £50k and that low body weight it looks like a straight Italian French battle to us.
Expect full details of the 2017 Alpine A110 in the coming days.
