The 2018 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid arrives to add plug-in power to the new Cayenne range
The new 2018 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid joins the Cayenne range offering a total combined output of 456bhp and an EV range of 27 miles. Prices start at £67,128.
The new Porsche Cayenne range is expanded with the arrival of the Cayenne E-Hybrid, a plug-in version of the Cayenne promising a healthy combined output of 456bhp and an electric range of 27 miles (although you’ll never get more than 20 miles in the real world). That makes the new E-Hybrid a chunk more powerful than before, with the bulk of the gain coming from an electric motor delivering 135bhp and an extra 7bhp from the 3.0 litre petrol engine, and it’s enough to get the new E-Hybrid to 62mph in 5.0 seconds. To give it perspective, it’s also more power than the original Cayenne Turbo had.

Porsche has tuned the E-Hybrid Cayenne to give maximum torque from the electric motor if you mash the throttle, with a new eight-speed auto ‘box and a new clutch system giving quicker electric motor responses maximise performance. Charging of the battery takes just over a couple of hours on a 32amp charger, but plug it in to a three-pin socket and it’ll take almost eight hours thanks to a battery that’s 30 per cent larger than the previous model.
There’s little to make the PHEV stand out from the rest of the latest Cayenne range apart from ‘Hybrid’ badges and some garish lime green brake calipers, but there are some new options too (also now available across the rest of the Cayenne range) including massage seats, heated windscreen, HUD and 22″ alloys.
The new Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is now on sale at Porsche’s UK dealers with prices starting at £67,128. First UK deliveries are expected at the end of the month.
