Hyundai has revealed prices for the 2013 Santa Fe, which moves upmarket with new looks and new pricing. Starts at £25,495.
That’s a good thing, as Hyundai has taken the launch of the new Santa Fe as an opportunity for a bit of a price hike. The entry-level Santa Fe – the Santa Fe Style – now costs £25,495 (up by pushing on £3k) and, unlike the current model, it doesn’t even get 4WD.
But what the new Santa Fe does get – apart from better looks – is a decent spec. Even the entry level Style comes with 18″ alloys, parking sensors (at the back), self-levelling suspension (if you opt for 7 seats instead of 5), AirCon, Bluetooth and Flex Steer which allows you to select the level of assistance and feedback.
Moving up to premium trim adds in Touchscreen SatNav, parking camera, electric folding mirrors, Climate, heated front seats and leather and the range-topping Premium SE comes with 19″ alloys, Panoramic roof, Xenons, Keyless, front parking sensors, electric driver’s seat and Supervision Cluster with LCD display.
Hyundai say they’ve tuned the new Santa Fe’s suspension to deal with UK roads (in other words they’ve made it more capable of dealing with pot holes and crumbling tarmac) and have also included a range of safety features across the range including Hill Start, ESP, Trailer Stability and an Active Bonnet System to mitigate injuries to any passing pedestrians you might mow down.
Under the bonnet it’s Hobson’s choice with the same 2.2 litre CRDi diesel the current Santa Fe has. But it has had something of a makeover to suit its posh new clothes with improvements in performance, economy and emissions yielding 47.9mpg and under 155g/km for the FWD manual (the 4WD is 46.4mpg and 159g/km and the auto 41.4mpg and 178g/km).
It all adds up to an appealing package that’s still a decent price (despite the more than 10 per cent rise), that looks good and is well-equipped.
The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe goes on sale on 15th October with first deliveries in early 2013.
