New Peugeot 3008 SUV GT Hybrid4
The new Peugeot 3008 SUV GT Hybrid4 goes on sale later this year with a 297bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain, 4WD and low official emissions.
Peugeot does have a very decent range of SUVs on offer, and for those looking for a halfway house between ICE and EV, the new Peugeot 3008 SUV GT Hybrid4 could be a very good buy.Of course, there’s been a Hybrid4 3008 before, with Peugeot delivering it before the 3008 morphed in to an SUV, where it offered, in 2011, a combined 200bhp from a combination of a 163bhp diesel engine and 37bhp electric motor.
But things have moved on a bit since then, and the now SUV 3008 gets a more convincing and appealing plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering the promise of decent performance, proper EV running and low BIK (10% in 2020) for business users.
The new plug-in powertrain combines a 194bhp 1.6 litre PureTech petrol engine with a pair of electric motors to deliver a combined 297bhp, enough to scoot to 62mph in 6.5 seconds, with official emissions at just 29g/km.
The electric motors make this the first 4WD 3008, but there’s also going to be a FWD version of the Hybrid4 which uses a motor just on the front.
Power for the electric motors comes from a 13.2kWh battery which, say Peugeot, will deliver up to 36 miles of EV range and charge in under two hours from a 7kW charger.
Titivations include Greval Grey Alcantara interior trim, aged oak wood, Adaptive Cruise, Stop-Go and Lane Positioning Assist.
David Peel,, Peugoet UK MD, said:
The 3008 SUV GT Hybrid4 is the next step in PEUGEOT’s electrification journey. It will join the all-new e-208 and e-2008 SUV, and follows our philosophy of ‘choose your PEUGEOT, choose your powertrain’, as 3008 SUV buyers have the choice between efficient petrol, diesel and the plug-in hybrid electric technology for their car.
Peugeot say the new 3008 SUV GT Hybrid4 will be available to order in the UK before the end of the year, although we have no prices yet.
