New Vauxhall Corsa ‘Official Spy’ testing photo
The new Vauxhall Corsa – essentially a restyled Peugeot 208 – shown in official testing photos ahead of a launch in the summer.
It’s only been a couple of years since PSA gobbled up Vauxhall and Opel from GM, but we already have a new Corsa, built on the same PSA platform as the new Peugeot 208, almost ready to hit the market.Vauxahall started teasing the new Corsa a couple of months ago, telling us that the new Corsa will have ‘big car’ features like adaptive LED headlights and that there will be an electric variant, presumably mimicking that of the new electric Peugeot e208.
Now Vauxhall are back for another Corsa tease, this time with photos of the Corsa out testing ahead of a summer reveal.
Of course, the Corsa is still camouflaged, but Vauxhall want you to know it’s been working hard, spending endless hours in the polar winter of Swedish Lapland on frozen lakes and snow-covered roads to fine tune the chassis for the right balance between comfort and handling.
The new Corsa will also be a chunk lighter than the the current Corsa, and the Fiesta for that matter, thanks not just to the new PSA platform, but to use of lighter materials too, like an aluminium bonnet.
When the new Corsa does get revealed this summer, expect it to bear a quite strong resemblance to the Peugeot 208, in terms of looks and under the skin.
But that’s not a bad starting point for a successful new Corsa.
