New Volkswagen Touran MPV costs from £22,240

The new Volkswagen Touran MPV – revealed earlier this year – will costs from £22,240 in the UK with a choice of S, SE, SE Family and SEL trims.
Based on VW’s MQB platform, the new Touran offers more room than before – thanks to an extra 113mm in the wheelbase – as well as a more upmarket interior, seven seats and new technology like adaptive cruise and autonomous engine braking.
Entry-level Touran S models come with post-collision braking, 6.5″ composite media, DAB, Bluetooth, Air Con and roof rails and starts at £22,240 for the 1.2 TSI 110PS S model.
Move up to the SE spec (which starts at £23,630) and you can add in stuff like 16″ alloys, Front Assist and emergency braking, parking sensors, iPod connectivity and auto wipers, whilst the SE Family (from £25,115) comes with an extra large panoramic roof, Discovery Nav with Car-Net Guide and rear blinds. The Family model also gets remotely activated child locks and voice amplification so the kids in the back can hear when you yell at them.
Go the whole hog and opt for the new Touran in SEL trim and you’ll also get Adaptive Cruise, Driver Profile, App Connect, 17″ alloys and Climate.
There’s a choice of five engines – two petrol and three diesels – that are almost 20 per cent more efficient than in the previous model, with the petrol options the 1.2 TSI with 110PS and a manual gearbox and the 1.4 TSI with 150 PS and a seven-speed DSG option.
Diesel choices are the 110PS 1.6 litre, 150PS 2.0 litre and 190PS 2.0 litre with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox (except the 190PS which is only available with the DSG).
Order books for thew new VW Touran open tomorrow (2 September 2015) at VW’s UK dealers with first customer cars expected by Christmas.
