New Volvo XC90 recalled (again) – this time for an airbag problem.

The new Volvo XC90 is being recalled to fix a problem with an airbag cover design fault in the third row. The recall affects all new XC90s in the UK.

Hands down, the new Volvo XC90 is the most impressive car Volvo has ever built, and is a strong contender as the best new car from any car maker in the last year.

But the new XC90 – which is just starting to be seen on UK roads as buyers pile in to the appealing Swede – is having a few hiccups along the way, although nothing that generates real concern, even if it must be irritating for Volvo (and XC90 owners).

In May, Volvo had to recall the small number of XC90s in the wild to fix an incorrectly assembled wiring harness for the restraint systems which could get damaged, and now they’re having to drag back the XC90s again (and there’s a few more now) to fix an airbag problem.

But this isn’t part of the Takata airbag  saga, but is a small design flaw in a cover for one of the airbags in the XC90’s third row which may impede the airbag’s deployment.

The Volvo XC90 airbag recall is nothing to get excited about – even if it is an annoyance – and Volvo will be contacting all new XC90 owners in the UK to check if their car needs a fix.
