Peugeot opens UK reservations for their new plug-in hybrid 3008 and 508
Peugeot opens reservation for 3008 SUV Hybrid, 3008 SUV GT Hybrid4, 508 Hybrid and 508 SW Hybrid plug-in hybrids in the UK.
Many decry the plug-in hybrid as neither fish nor fowl, an over-complicated vehicle with two expensive powertrains when a BEV is a much better idea. But plug-in hybrids certainly have their place. They serve as a very good introduction to electric cars for more conservatively-minded buyers, but they will also enable car makers to meet the strict upcoming average CO2 rules – thanks to the daft way plugin hybrids are tested.
So you can expect the onslaught of plug-in hybrid models to continue, with the latest to go on sale the plug-in hybrid versions of Peugeot’s very good 3008 and 508 (and the 508 estate).
The 508 Hybrid and 508 SW Hybrid gets combined official economy of 235mpg and emissions of 31g/km (as we said, daft), and offer an official EV range of 39 miles, using a 1.6 litre PureTech engine and electric motor for a combined 225bhp.
The 3008 Hybrid uses the same setup as the 508, but the 3008 Hybrid4 gets more power – almost 300bhp – and all the new plug-ins can be charged in under two hours using a 7kW wallbox.
David Peel, Peugeot UK MD, said:
2020 will be a significant year for PEUGEOT, as we officially start our UK deliveries of our new generation of fully electric vehicles, alongside all-new plug-in hybrid variants. The 3008 SUV HYBRID, 3008 SUV GT HYBRID4, 508 HYBRID and 508 SW HYBRID are significant vehicles for PEUGEOT and confirm our promise of having an electrified variant across our entire model line-up by 2023.
Online reservations for Peugeot’s new plug-in hybrids are open, the 3008 here and the 508 here, with a £500 deposit securing the deal.
