Porsche 911 Turbo S China 10th Anniversary Edition revealed

Porsche are celebrating 10 years in China with the Porsche 911 Turbo S China 10th Anniversary Edition, with lots of gold paint and Alcantara.

It must have seemed a slightly optimistic decision when Porsche decided to make its mark in China in 2001 by opening a Porsche Center in Beijing, But it turned out to be a stroke of genius.

China is now the second most important market for Porsche with the Stuttgart car maker now shifting almost 14,000 cars a year, a big change from the handful it managed in 2002.

Big markets deserve special editions, and with plenty of wealthy individuals in China keen to have something no one else has, the Porsche 911 Turbo S China 10th Anniversary Edition – a moniker which fortunately isn’t written on the boot – will sell out straight away.

This Porsche 911 Turbo S for China comes in a fetching shade of gold with a carbon fibre bonnet and rear spoiler, a look completed with a set of 19″ Sport Classic alloys.

Inside the 911 10 Anniversary gets Alcantara seats and a Sports Classic wheel with contrast gold stitching, liberal smatterings of carbon fibre trim and an equally liberal smattering of ‘Special Edition’ badges.

It seems that Chinese cosmetic tastes are what this 911 Turbo S special is all about, with colour schemes inside and out that might not be the most appealing to the Occidental eye, so the oily bits remain unchanged.

But as the oily bits attached to the 911 Turbo S come as standard with four wheel drive, a 3.8 litre Boxer lump, 523bhp and a 0-60mph of around 3 seconds it seems unlikely there’ll be many complaints about performance.

In fact, in the real world, there is almost nothing that comes close to the 911 Turbo S.

Porsche are producing just 10 911 Turbo S China 10th Anniversary Edition cars in China. That’s around one car for every 130 million Chinese.

Shouldn’t be a tough sale.
