When the Porsche Macan was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month, it came in three flavours – Macan S, Macan S Diesel and Macan Turbo. But only the petrol Macan S and Macan Turbo were scheduled for the US market. But that looks likely to change.
According to Car and Driver, Porsche has said that the Macan S Diesel is heading to the States as a more economical version of the new Macan, despite diesel not being a big seller in the States.
Oddly, especially as the Macan S Diesel cost the same £43,300 as the Macan S in the UK, C&D seem to think the S Diesel will be the lowest price offering in the Macan range.
But despite the addition of the Macan S Diesel to the offerings in the States, Posrche won’t be offering any of the four-cylinder Macans planned for the UK and Europe (and other markets) as it seems that may undermine sales of Audi’s Q5.
Sales of the V6 Porsche Macan S Diesel are expected to start in the US in early 2015.
