Porsche Macan Turbo returns with 434bhp
The new Porsche Macan Turbo arrives with a downsized – but more powerful – engine, cosmetic tweaks and prices starting at £68,530.
It’s a year since the updated Porsche Macan arrived, since when the quickest Macan on offer has been the Macan S. But that changes with the return of the Porsche Macan Turbo.Mind you, if you want a Macan Turbo it’s going to cost you, with the Turbo weighing in at a quite hefty £68,530 – before you start ticking Porsche’s pricey option boxes – which is getting on for £20k more than the Macan S.
Power in the new Macan Turbo comes from the same 2.9 litre V6 Turbo you will already find in the Cayenne and Panamera which, although smaller than the old Macan Turbo’s 3.6 litre lump, delivers 434bhp and 405lb/ft of torque.
That’s almost 10 per cent more than the old engine could manage, and it’s enough – assuming you’re happy to tick the Sport Chrono option box – to get to 62mph in 4.3 seconds, with launch control delivering your best efforts by showing the power through a seven-speed PDK ‘box to all four wheels.
To go with the more ‘Go’, Porsche has fitted the Turbo with ‘Surface Coated Brakes’ for better stopping and less dust, added a full width LED bar at the back, LED headlights at the front, Sports Exhaust, double roof spoiler and, inside, better seats and surround sound.
The new Porsche Macan Turbo is now on sale at Porsche’s UK dealers. But budget a bit more than the £68,530 list to get the Macan Turbo you want.
